INTENTION

The AXIS Tee did not begin with color in the usual way.
It started much earlier, at the very first sketch.

At that stage, there was nothing complex about it just a black pen and a white sheet of paper. The first lines, the first proportions, the first idea of the piece all came from that contrast alone. Black on white. Shape against empty space. No distraction, just form.

That contrast stayed with the piece from the beginning.
It became the reason AXIS exists in black and white.

The black version carries the same intention in a more reduced way. It does not rely on color to create interest. It depends on the silhouette, the shoulder line, the width of the body and the way the fabric falls. Every decision has to feel deliberate, because nothing is hidden behind noise.

The goal was never to create a loud graphic tee.
It was to build a piece that feels clear, balanced and complete something that looks simple at first, but becomes stronger the longer you stay with it.

AXIS was shaped through reduction.
Not by adding more, but by keeping only what felt necessary.

FIT & PROPORTION

The fit of AXIS was never meant to feel oversized just for the sake of being oversized.

From the beginning, the goal was to build a shape that feels wider and more relaxed, but still controlled. The shoulders were dropped to create a broader frame, giving the tee more presence without making it feel careless. The body was cut with extra width, but the proportions had to stay balanced so the piece would still look clean when worn.

A lot of the work was in the small adjustments.
If the body became too wide, the tee started to lose tension.
If the shoulder sat too high, the piece lost the calm stance it needed.
If the length felt off, the whole silhouette became heavier than intended.

That balance was the key.

AXIS was shaped to fall with structure rather than collapse. It should feel relaxed, but not loose in an empty way. The silhouette had to carry weight, hold space and still remain simple.

What matters most is not that the tee looks bigger.
What matters is that it feels measured.

The final proportion was chosen because it gave the piece the right kind of stillness broad, calm and deliberate.

MATERIAL & CONSTRUCTION

The material was one of the first things that had to be corrected.

A tee can have the right shape on paper, but if the fabric does not carry it, the whole piece loses its reason. The body can be wide, the shoulder can sit lower, but without the right weight the silhouette starts to collapse. It becomes just another oversized shirt.

For AXIS, the fabric needed to feel soft, but not weak. Heavy, but not stiff. It had to sit on the body with enough structure to hold the shape, while still feeling easy to wear every day.

The black version made this even more important. On a black surface, small details become quieter. The fabric, the fall and the construction have to do more work. You notice the way the shoulder drops, how the body hangs, how the hem sits, and how the tee keeps its form without looking forced.

The goal was not to make the fabric feel heavy just to call it premium.

It had to feel balanced.

Dense enough to give the piece presence. Soft enough to make it wearable. Stable enough to keep the silhouette clean after movement. Every part of the construction had to support that feeling not too loud, not too flat, not overbuilt.

AXIS works because the material does not fight the shape.

REFINEMENT NOTE

The hardest part was not adding more to the tee.

It was knowing what had to stay.

There were versions of AXIS that already looked finished from the outside, but something still felt off. The shoulder was close, but not calm enough. The body had space, but the balance was not there yet. Even a few centimeters in length changed the whole attitude of the piece.

That was the part that took time.

Not the obvious decisions.
The small ones.

How the fabric falls after movement.
How much space sits between the body and the shirt.
Where oversized stops feeling careless and starts feeling controlled.

AXIS began with a black pen on a white sheet of paper. That simplicity stayed in the process. Nothing was added just to make the piece easier to explain.

The final version does not feel complete because it has more design.

PACKAGING & ARCHIVE SYSTEM

The packaging system is not an extra part of SHIFT LAB.

It is part of the piece.

A product should not arrive without context. It should not feel like something that was simply packed, sealed and sent away. For us, the moment of opening matters. It is the first physical contact between the customer and the world behind the garment.

Before the piece is worn, the customer should understand why it exists.

The packaging is built to slow that moment down. Every element is there to create a sense of receiving something considered not just buying clothing. The paper, the archive notes, the printed details and the way everything is placed are meant to bring the story closer to the person opening it.

Sometimes the product itself is only one part of the experience.

What matters is the reason behind it. The process behind it. The decisions that made it feel the way it feels. Many brands forget that a garment does not begin when it is delivered. It begins much earlier in the idea, in the first sketches, in the material choices, in the small corrections nobody sees.

SHIFT LAB places value on that.

The packaging system exists to make the customer feel that there is more behind the piece than fabric and construction. It is a way of turning the delivery into a moment. A quiet introduction to the story before the product becomes part of someone’s life.

It is not made to impress loudly.

It is made to make the piece feel complete.
